Crown Princess Victoria in Green H&M Gown for 'Hetero of the Year' Award

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has been named 'Hetero of the Year' by the readers of QX Magazine. Though this year's gala was cancelled, Victoria was dressed for the occasion in a green gown.

Victoria said she was "very happy" and "proud" to receive the award, adding, "It means a lot to me." The Crown Princess continued: "The past year has been a challenge in various ways. In many parts of the world, human rights work has been hampered or hindered by the pandemic. Therefore, it is now particularly important that we continue to work every day for a world where LGBTQI people are given the opportunity to live in freedom and without oppression. A world where you can be just who you are, and be proud of it."

Victoria's win has been credited to her impassioned speech for Stockholm Pride in August. Addressing the virtual event, she said, "We must not stay silent. We must speak up for those who do not dare to speak, those who are not allowed to, and those who cannot. Here in Sweden and the Nordic countries, we have come a relatively long way when it comes to LGBTQI rights. But what we see as self-evident – or at least would like to believe is self-evident – is unthinkable in other parts of the world. In many countries, same-sex relationships are illegal. Young people are forced to hide and deny their love, and their identity. LGBTQI people are persecuted, harassed and even imprisoned. For me, this is totally inconceivable."

Victoria's gorgeous green tulle gown is from H&M's Conscious Collection.

Described as an "ankle-length dress in sturdy tulle made from Renu™ polyester. Fitted at the top with a draped bodice, a concealed zip at the back and multiple layers of tulle flounces around the armholes. Seam at the waist with a narrow grosgrain band, and a super-flared skirt with multiple layers of tulle for added width and stability. Reinforcing grosgrain waistband with an adjustable fastening on the inside for a firmer fit around the waist. The tulle and lining are made from Renu™ polyester – a high-quality, recycled polyester made from raw materials extracted from used fabrics".

Victoria wore her Maria Nilsdotter Nocturnal Creatures Tiara, handcrafted in sterling silver with oxidized detailing, adorned with lustrous freshwater pearls and lemon quartz.

Victoria first wore the piece for the stunning 10th wedding anniversary photoshoot last year.

  1. Victoria looks simply fabulous in this H&M gown, and how fabulous that she has found the excuse to showcase such a glamorous gown in lockdown. Multiple layers of tulle flounces are very princess but how original to have them round the armholes as such a distinctive feature. And how brilliant to have the perfect modernist tiara to set it all off. I love the horizontal bodice ruching contrasting with the vertical crinkling of the skirt, and the shiny ribbon contrast is perfect. Easily one of Victoria's most successful fashion statements and in a tremendous cause, delighted she won such an exciting award. And the little dog in the portrait is a pure scene stealer even from a fabulous princess!

I wish i could say i tire of green but no. It just goes with anything; silver, gold, bronxe you name it. I'm sure copper could be placed near that gown and would pass munster. It might be CP Victoria's fav colour too. πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸŒ²πŸŒ±πŸŒΏπŸ€

  9. It's a quirky gown, and I might not like it on everyone or even most people, but I love it on Victoria! Even the ruffled shoulders somehow look great, and the unusual tiara adds a special note as well. Congratulations to a hard-working princess who is always a delight to see.

  10. WOW- sie looks amazing. And it has been too long that we have been treated to this kind of superficial, frivolous escapism.
The "tiara" is more like a quirky headpiece and most defenitely a substitute for a real one. But it mateches very well with the dress.
I hioe she and Daniel are doing ok and have speedy recovery. With his doner kidney and the immune supressants he has to take because of it, they must be very concerned even though he will have the best of care and be monitored closrely.

    1. Reading my comment again- I made an error while writing. What I meant to say is-
the headpiece is most definitely NOT a substitute for the real deal!

  11. I hope I can post this comment here. It was a bit of a shock to read about Victoria and Daniel tested positive for Corona Virus. I read some where on TRF Daniel got vaccinated the same as the King and Queen, must not have been. I hope they both will be fine.
