Princess Sofia Continues Volunteering at Sophiahemmet Hospital

Princess Sofia of Sweden continued her volunteering efforts at Sophiahemmet hospital. Sofia and Carl Philip are expecting their third child in April, a brother or sister for Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel.

Last April, when the world was thrust into the pandemic, Sofia swiftly undertook basic healthcare training and began volunteering at Sophiahemmet. She was posted on a ward where her duties included cleaning and care duties. As honorary chair of the hospital, she was determined to help in any way she could. The hospital provides highly-specialised medical care across numerous areas by working with fifty independent healthcare providers.

Sofia's hard work did not go unnoticed. She was nominated by Consid for the “Corona Hero of the Century” award. The judges described her as a "royal icon" for her selfless efforts throughout the crisis. It's wonderful to see her visits continuing.

Sofia wore the Diane Von Furstenberg Andi dress (with many thanks to Heaven). The midi length, paisley pattern dress features a slit at the front.

    i nearly got choked on toast just reading this !!! Princess Sofia has been featured much in the news about her volunteering actions but to see her expecting her third child and ENGAGED IN CHARITY. My word, it's amazing. 19 degrees in Adelaide with a 67% humidity, i woke up this monring with all the apathy in the world wide world. Good to get a dose of down-to-earth reality. I'm chuffed, many thanks Charlotte :)

    Sofia is setting such a shining example. The DVF wrap-over is cute and adaptable for maternity. I love the sophisticated take on paisley with a dark background which is both attractive and appropriate for a work role.

    I am really impressed. Taking on "lesser" jobs, so that the nurses have more time to actually perform medical jobs is such a great contribution. I wish more royals would have have the courage to go so far. Way less comfortable than zoom interviews of sending encouraging letters.
    What does surprise me though, is that she is actually allowed to do so. In my country pregnant woman are send home (fully paid!) if their job is potentially endangering their pregnancy (hard manual labour, heavy lifting, risk of infections). Either your doctor will put you on leave or the company itself. Big companies have their own doctor that asses your work situation and sends you home. They all have guidelines to be save in questions about the health and safety of their emplyoees. Not at least in terms of legal repercussions and insurance.

Crown Princess Mary Returns to Engagements After Summer Break

One of my favourite royals and a lady I know is very popular among readers is Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. So, I know you'll all be pleased to hear she made her first post-summer break appearance today for a special service marking Christiansfeld's 250th anniversary in Southern Jutland. King Felipe and Queen Letizia Host Elegant Reception at Marivent Palace

The King and Queen of Spain, accompanied by Queen Sofia, hosted an elegant evening reception for representatives from a plethora of sectors, charities, and organisations from the Balearic Islands. Sofia was regal as always in a flowing outfit. The gathering was held at Marivent Palace (meaning Palace of Sea and Wind), the summer residence of the Spanish royal family.  The palatial residence was designed by the architect Guillem Forteza Pinya in the early 1920s, commissioned by the painter Juan de Saridakis, who lived there until his death. Guillem's widow, Anunciación, gave the building and its land to the Balearic Provincial Council in 1966, and shortly after, it became a favourite location for the royals.
