Jordan's Princess Raiyah Marries Road Dahl's Grandson Ned Donovan

An unexpected royal wedding? Yes please. We were lucky enough to see the release of several photos from Princess Raiyah of Jordan's beautiful, intimate wedding to Roah Dahl's grandson Ned Donovan yesterday. Due to the pandemic, their Jordanian nuptials had to be postponed.

The bride, Raiyah, is the daughter of American-born Queen Noor (pictured below with the bride and groom) and the late King Hussein. For those just getting to know the Jordanian royals, Queen Noor is King Abdullah II's stepmother (King Abduallah II is married to Queen Rania), therefore Princess Raiyah is the King's half-sister. Raiyah is 34 and the youngest of ten siblings.

Raiyah studied at the University of Edinburgh before obtaining her masters in Japanese literature from Columbia University in New York. Hello! reports she's currently a PHD candidate at UCLA in pre-modern Japanese literature. Ned Donovan is a journalist who has worked for The Times and The Daily Mail.

In a message on social media, the Princess wrote:

"Thank you all for your kind messages on our wedding! While it was originally planned for April in Jordan, the pandemic derailed those plans and it was safer for my husband’s family to hold it in the UK. God willing we look forward to celebrating in Jordan once the situation allows."

Raiyah was radiant in a high-neck flowing gown with floral embroidery and long sleeves. The eagle-eyed Tiara Mania noted her intricate headpiece was crafted using a brooch belonging to her mother Queen Noor. An excellent spot and fabulous use of the brooch. 'Something blue' indeed.

Wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness!

  1. I don't know how you keep up with such well edited posts so quickly but it's just great, especially when we can dip into characters that are new to me! What a lovely couple! And good for them going ahead with a lockdown wedding. Raiyah looks absolutely beautiful, the lacework on her gown is incredible, and how wonderful to be able to use that gorgeous jewel in a fabulous headpiece. Thanks so much for posting.
