Princess Mary is Regal in Blue!

Crown Princess Mary is particularly popular on this blog (our most searched for royal this week) and it's not surprising. Mary is graceful, intelligent, charming and elegant, and these are just some of the reasons she's also one of my favourite royals. Today we're looking at her two most recent engagements this week, beginning with a reception she and Prince Frederick hosted at the winter home of the Danish royal family, Amalienborg Palace.

Kongehuset

The reception was held to mark the couple's trip to Canada next week and was organised with the Canadian ambassador to Denmark. The trip promises to be an exciting one for the couple; one which will see them promote Danish business and champion causes close to their hearts including bullying.

Kongehuset

Mary chose a blue print Hugo Boss dress she's had since at least 2010. It's a great item to pull out for an outing such as a palace reception.

Kongehuset

Made from silk chiffon with a soft blurred pale blue blossom print, it has a fit and flare shape with delicate ruched detail on the side and a high neckline.

Hugo Boss

Today, Mary attended a gala at Ny Carlsberg Glypoteket in Copenhagen and chose another beautiful navy blue dress.

Kongehuset

A look inside the gala.

Kongehuset

This striking garment is another repeat for the Princess. The Erdem Cecile Dauphine floral-print dress comes in electrifying pink and blue hues, which accent the navy base of the ladylike dress.

Erdem

Mary is not the only royal to have fallen in love with the Canadian designer's dress. Famously the Duchess of Cambridge wore it in navy lace for the royal tour of Canada in 2011.

Two beautiful looks for Mary. Very excited to see the Canada visit next week! :)

    1. Hello Rose.

The best indication is to find the collection and the year/season it was from and of course the first time it was worn publicly. Each royal (much like Kate) has a selection of go-to designers and they very frequently repeat looks which makes them easy to ID. There are some tough ones though which I find impossible to trace!

So will I. Always a pleasure to see Mary whose style so much resembles Kate's when she was first married. (Or maybe it should be the other way round.) Love both these dresses. Wish I could afford the Erdam, it's so stunning!

  9. Kate's Erdem dress is one of my favorites. I see knock-offs everywhere in LA!
The Hugo Boss dress is gorgeous and Princess Mary looks wonderful in it....looking forward to seeing what she wears on tour.

  10. Mary is a great favorite of mine, and I can never understand the negativity towards her that I have seen online. She is elegant, lovely, devoted to her family, and works very hard, unlike other royals.

  12. Princess Mary looks beautiful in both dresses but I prefer the second, the navy blue Erdem! Probably because it's something I would totally love to wear! I am a loyal HRH Duchess Kate blog follower and am loving the Royal Digest blog! It is so much fun to see more of some less media covered European Royals! Fantastic job as usual Charlotte!
