Prince Harry Attends the 10th Annual WellChild Awards in London

The 10th Annual WellChild Awards ceremony was held last night at the Hilton in London. Children and young people who have battled against illness, along with the people who have cared for them during these very tough times, were honoured and awarded for their bravery.

WellChild is the national charity for sick children and raises money to support them and their families. If you wish to help WellChild in their efforts you can find all information here.

Royal patron of WellChild, the ever-dashing Prince Harry, was on hand to meet those involved, and was joined by a host of stars who came to show their support.

The Prince showed his caring side and spent much time with all those attending, putting them very much at ease despite the occasion. In fact, 10-year-old Rachel Hooley, who high-fived the Prince when meeting him, appeared very much taken with His Royal Highness.

Prince Harry met Rosie Flory and her mother Michelle. Teenager Rosie won Most Caring Young Person for her efforts raising money to fight cancer in loving memory of her brother Harry who died because of the disease. The youngster presented the Prince with a white 'Harry' band which he promptly put on his wrist to show appreciation of her efforts.

Winner of the Good Morning Britain Young Hero award, Olivia Ruston, presented the Prince with a Prince Harry piggy bank; something he appeared very interested in.

A very touching moment happened when Prince Harry met 4-year-old Carson Hartley, who suffers from Spina bifida, lung disease, a heart defect and brittle bone disease. The brave little boy couldn't resist getting a hero's hug from the Prince as his beaming parents, Kirsty and Damian, looked on.

It was a very special evening for all those involved and it was wonderful to see these brave people being given such recognition for their efforts.

  1. What a sweet post, it brought tears to my eyes! I love the piggy bank, hope Harry uses it. Harry really shines at these types of events and I hope he is able to settle down soon and start a family of his own. He'll make a great father.

  2. Wow...I gotta say...Harry has got that special something his mother had...th ability to connect, immediately, intensely and sincerely AND to have it translate through the tv and photographs...it's a rare gift and can translate - as his mother discovered to make a difference...he is learning...and she I am sure would be sooo proud!!
