Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine, who turns 32 in June, is the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. She became engaged to Christopher O'Neill in late 2012 and the couple married in June 2013. Both mother and baby are believed to be doing well at the moment. The Princess shared a photo via her Facebook page thanking supporters for "sending so much positive energy" during her pregnancy.

Royal court spokeswoman Annika Sonnerberg revealed the family have been informed:
"Everything went well. The mother and child are doing well. The King and Queen who are in Stockholm, have been told of the birth of their newest grandchild. Victoria has also been informed. But exactly what the royal family plans to do, whether they will travel to the US or not, remains unclear."
Royal expert Roger Lundgren doesn't believe the hype will be as intense for Madeleine's daughter as it was when Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to Estelle:
"Because Estelle has a prominent place in the line of succession and will in all likelihood be queen someday, that's obviously much much bigger. Right now we don't even know what title or position Madeleine's daughter will have in the Royal Family."
According to the rules of succession, a king or queen in Sweden must be raised in the kingdom, be protestant, and is not allowed to marry without the King's permission. Princess Madeleine's child would be unable to ascend to the Swedish throne if she doesn't grow up in Sweden and/or is raised a Catholic, her father's religion.
We're very excited to hear the baby's name and of course see first photos. Once again, Congratulations Madeleine and Chris! :)
