Hello royal watchers, I hope you're all enjoying the first day of 2013!
Today we're going to take a look at all the latest news from Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco. I realise many of you may not be as familiar with the European royals (they get relatively little press coverage in the UK and the US) and I hope that in the coming weeks through these posts you will get to know them and their work.

Since the couple's wedding in 2011, Charlene has been doing an enormous amount of important work and last month
the website for her foundation was launched. Royals are in the enviable position of truly making a difference and in these recessionary times charities need more support than ever. Charlene's foundation is about "
children who can become great adults" particularly through sport. The former Olympic swimmer plans to utilize what she learned from her time as an athlete to help children reach their full potential.

Princess Charlene wore an
Akris cape coat from the Fall 2011 Collection and an Akris black turtleneck from the
Akris Punto range for the official photograph used to announce the website opening. Akris is Charlene's favourite designer and she wears their pieces all the time.

Below we look at the cape coat in brown. It retailed for roughly $5,000 but is now sold out. It is a staple piece for Charlene, and one she's worn a number of times before. The high neck features a concealed button closure and self-belt.

Before Christmas, Albert and Charlene received Monegasque children at the Palace for the annual Christmas tree event where each child received a present and no doubt had a wonderful time. I would love to see other royal families starting this tradition.

Charlene looked chic in the Double Breasted Camel Hair Coat from the Akris Fall 2010 Collection. The coat also retails for just over $5,000 and is another piece the Princess has had in her wardrobe for a couple of years. The military inspired coat has a detachable hood.

Charlene's black nappa leather boots are the
Stuart Weitzman Take Half mid-heel below the knee boots. They are currently available for £442.

The Palace in Monaco was literally lit up on Christmas Day. They often do this with Buckingham Palace to mark various days and it's visually fascinating.

DeleteI wonder does anyone know if Charlene speaks in French (as she is Australian)
ReplyDeleteI recall seeing an interview around the time of the wedding and Charlene had very little French. I believe she is still learning the language.
DeleteShe is from South Africa
DeleteIt is interesting to note that Grace, as well, had very little French at the time of her marriage to Prince Ranier. I read somewhere years ago that her children (from a very early age) laughed at their mother's accent and lack of fluency.
DeleteCharlene Witstock now Princess Charlene is NOT Australian. She's South African. Benoni in the Transvaal is the town in which she was born.
DeleteCharlene Witstock was born in Zimbabwe
DeleteIt's hard to believe that Albert is Grace Kelly's son, based on his looks. Is there any reported pressure on the couple to produce an heir?
ReplyDeleteI,too, have wondered about the pressure on Princess Charlene to produce an heir--particularly since Albert is the ruling monarch and his legitimate child would be NEXT in line to the throne. It seems to me that the spectre of an illegimate child (He has acknowledged at least one, hasn't he?)laying claim to the throne does not bode well for the future of the monarchy in Monaco. A child with Princess Charlene should summarily squelch any other claim. Furthermore, Albert must be in his 50's now. A lack of pressure on Charlene and Albert would certainly paint a stark contrast to William and Catherine, who were under intense pressure at 30 to produce an heir who will be THIRD in line to the British throne.
DeleteLove it. Thanks for your great article. Love Princess Charlene she is doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteShe is superb. She displays her elegance and demeanor look. Most beautiful and may she be blessed with children of her own soon
ReplyDeleteCharlene is my favorite princesses around the world. She is very dishy and the pieces of her work for the improvement of the children and world are also beautiful as she is.
